march_madness 544x294Join us for NCAA March Madness.  We have purchased the complete TV package of all the games for your viewing pleasure.  We will also be running food and drink specials during the games.

We are also offering a charity tournament bracket pool.  The entry fee is $5 with the proceeds to benefit the Gainesville Grizzlies.  1st place will receive a gift card worth $100 to The Lion & Bull.  2nd place will receive a gift card worth $25 to The Lion & Bull.

The Lion & Bull NCAA Division I Tournament Bracket Rules:

All Proceeds to benefit the Gainesville Grizzlies

The person with the highest point total after all rounds of bracket play will win the pool.    1st tie breaker:  correctly guessing the winner of the tournament. 2nd tie breaker: total number of winners picked in the final four. 3rd tie breaker: total number of  winners picked in the final  8.  4th tie breaker:  total number of winners picked in the sweet 16.  5th tie breaker:  Coin flip.

Points are given in the following format:

1 pt for each correctly picked victory in first round

2 pts for each correctly picked victory in the second round

3 pts for each correctly picked victory in the third round

4 pts for each correctly picked victory in the fourth round

5 pts for each correctly picked victory in the fifth round

10 pts for a correctly picked victory in the championship round

The 1st place prize for winning the pool will be a gift card to Lion & Bull worth $100.  2nd place will receive a gift card in the amount of $25.

Prime Rib Night

The people have spoken, and we’ve listened! The delicious prime rib dinner that we served on New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day will now be available every Tuesday night for just $20! You get a perfectly cooked, thick slice of juicy prime rib with roasted potatoes and vegetables that will make consider ordering one to take home for tomorrow!

Don’t wait around, we’ll be dishing up the prime rib as long as supplies last. So come in early and get yours!

Guiness Posters

Come out and join us on Wednesday, March 17th for Saint Patricks Day.  We are opening, 1 hour early, at 10AM for kegs and eggs.  There will be a limited breakfast selection and our regular menu.  We will be having drink and food specials as well as serving green beer.  Our in house DJ’s, Kelly Pinky and Nate Brain will be spinning the tunes and Nate Brain will be rocking his kilt.  Everybody is Irish on St. Patty’s Day so come on out and join in the fun.

Quench your thirst with Green Beer, Guinness, Smithwick’s, and Black and Tan, while dining on Bangers and mash for $12.95, Corned Beef and Cabbage for $13.95, or an Irish Banger Sandwich for $8.50!

Our own Chef Trey has entered the Gainesville Library Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser.  The chili cook-off is sponsored by the Gravely PTO and will be held this Saturday March 6th from 11am – 2pm at Battlefield High School.  This is a peoples choice vote, so come out and support The Lion & Bull and Trey by voting for the best mild and spicy chili’s.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and we’ve put together a special menu that will be served on both Saturday and Sunday nights, February 13 and 14.  Saturday night, starting at 9:30pm, we will also feature a performance by The Monster Band.  We are currently taking reservations for our dining room. Our tavern will be seated on a first-come, first-seated basis.  We will be serving both our couple’s Valentine’s Day menu as well as our regular menu.

Every couple selecting one appetizer, two entrees and one dessert will include a glass of house wine or champagne.

All items on the menu may be ordered a la carte.

OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER
Broiled with bacon, parmesan, spinach, and cream sauce. $12

BEEF CARPACCIO
Thin slices of tender beef, with shallots, fried capers, horseradish cream, and a small mixed green salad. $10

Entrée

MIXED
Tender teres major beef grilled to perfection, shrimp skewer, and a boar sausage served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. $20

PRIME RIB
Slow roasted and served with mashed potatoes, broccoli and topped with horseradish cream and au jus. $22

NORTH CAROLINA ROCKFISH
Pan-seared and baked, served with purple fingerling potatoes, asparagus, and a matelote sauce. $22

pokerCome out every Monday at 7pm and 9:30pm to join the Free Texas Hold-Em poker league.

This is an independent poker league.  The game follows the rules of the WSOP.  Each player will receive $10,000 in chips.  There will be 2 games each night.  Each game is designed to run for 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours.  We will be paying 2 places for each game with 1st place receiving $50 in cash.

Sign up starts at 6:30 each night.  Be early to make sure you secure your seat. Good Luck!

The new Lion & Bull Brunch is available on Sundays between 11am and 3pm. We have some great brunch classics like Eggs Benedict as well as some different items, such as Chicken & Waffles, that have already become a favorite. Make your brunch a little extra special with a classic Mimosa, or try a Bellini (a Mimosa with Peach Schnapps).
