INSIDE PEBBLE TO PEARL

DariJ (lead vocalist): DariJ is an up-and-coming artist whose voice extends beyond normal genres with its fierce attitude but earnest and genuine soulfulness.  Though artists such as Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder can take credit for her early devotion to singing, her style blends everything from funk, rock, to old-school soul.  DariJ started out singing at a very young age, the stage is no stranger to her.  Thru her music career she has performed in both vocal groups and as an original soloist, finally finding her place amongst her fellow band members.  ”I never wanted to be a studio singer with tracks behind me.  My home is on stage performing, with live musicians.  Feeling the groove reverberate through my bones is my only true addiction in life,” says DariJ in a recent editorial.  She formed Pebble to Pearl as a fresh start and return to her roots; integrating her original music into the cover band scene making it one of the regions leading bands.

Sean (keys/guitar/vox): Classically trained but bred on rock, Sean brings his unique influences to all styles of funk, rock, jazz, classical, and R&B.  He is also the lead singer of his own original rock band, Fallworth (www.fallworth.com).  It is Sean’s versatility that brings so much to the table as a member of Pebble to Pearl.

Chris (drums/vox): A true multi-instrumentalist who began playing piano and trumpet as a child, and, as a teenager, drums and guitar, Chris has developed a musical style and vocabulary that breaks through any and all constraints.  Also an accomplished singer-songwriter, Chris’ first full length album entitled “That Ain’t a Sin”, Self Produced, and on which he played almost all of the instruments, will be released early in 2011.

JFork (guitar/vox): Known best for his guitar work and songwriting in the bands Cobbler and The War Within, Jamison brings his own unique flavor to the guitar, by blending his influences (Tom Morello, David Gilmour and Alex Lifeson) with a combined passion for funk and soul. He entertains the audience with a dynamic performance and charisma both on stage and off.

Dece (bass): Dece started in music as a synth programmer at the age of 16. Soon after, he  picked up the bass after seeing Prince in concert and immediately fell in love with the instrument.  Throughout the years he became interested in developing his skills in other areas of music as he gradually moved from playing the bass to recording engineer to producing and back to bass.  Dece’s influences are very diverse ranging from Smooth Jazz, R&B, Neo-Soul & Rock to House and Lounge music and Reggae.  Dece often wanders behind his home eating the mushrooms he finds lying about and talks to the little people who live under his utility shed.

ROCK BAND

lloyddoblerThe Lloyd Dobler Effect (LDE) has been around for more than 8 years, having toured over forty states and thirteen countries. The band has an impressive list of accomplishments including headlining multiple international Armed Forces Entertainment tours.

The name for the group comes from the main character in the 1989 movie “Say Anything” starring John Cusack, where Lloyd Dobler held a large boombox over his head outside of his girlfriend’s window and blasted “In Your Eyes” to prove how much he loved her. The LDE name was primarily adopted because the band thought it sounded cool.

LDE has gained a stellar reputation on the national college circuit and live worldwide music scene as the next great band to watch. They have performed on the same bill with such notable artists as Jane’s Addiction, Eminem, The Strokes, The Goo Goo Dolls, Good Charlotte, The Roots, Jack Johnson, and 3rd Eye Blind, to name a few.

LDE’s multi-layered and upbeat music showcases their universal appeal to both modern rock lovers and culturally diverse audiences. The new single (on the Imagen Records label) “Meet Me In London”, which is the title cut for the upcoming album, highlights the group’s debut onto the mainstream music scene. The full CD will be available in early 2010.

Modern Country/Classic Rock covers with a mix of original material.

rebelicious-tatoo

They’ve taken the country music scene by storm with their take no prisoner’s attitude and their all-out high-energy shows. By successfully mixing classic-rock with modern country music, they have created a fresh presence in the country music scene. They are an E ticket ride, and definitely worth the price of admission. BUT be forewarned, they are not the typical “cry in your beer” country band. They are…Rebelicious!

madroneVirginia’s premiere unsigned rock act; Madrone combine intricate riffs, earth shaking drums, driving bass, and impassioned vocals to form a sound unlike any other. The band has performed over 500 shows in the 6 years they’ve been together.

Madrone’s most recent single gained nationwide radio support, achieving #50 on the national Mainstream Rock Charts in April 2010 and was the only unsigned band in the top 200 at that time.

Madrone has toured extensively throughout Virginia the East Coast and midwestern states playing alongside such national acts as Staind, Papa Roach, Three Doors Down, Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, Shinedown, Chevelle, Drowning Pool, Halestorm and more.  With Madrone there is more than music, there’s a story. Sutphin calls music “my birth right” and he’s not kidding.  His grandfather, Jim Freeman was a music leader within the country and bluegrass scene of the 1960’s and 70’s.  He toured the country, recorded several albums, appearing on dozens of radio and television stations and even taught college level music theory.

Tragically his life was cut short on the 4th of July 1974, eleven years before John was born.  His prized 1961 Martin guitar was locked away the day he died only to be opened 24 years later when John’s grandmother presented it to him as a gift as he had just begun playing guitar.

It was within a week of receiving the guitar Sutphin wrote his first song.  And since then every Madrone song has come from Sutphin’s “holy grail” instrument.

Joseph Coleman, drummer and percussionist for Madrone; met John when he was only 15 years old yet was already a veteran of the budding music scene.  “I heard John play in other bands but I knew something was missing… me” Coleman says such in a direct way you instantly see that he speaks how he plays and performs; with honesty and an unbridled passion for his craft.

A professionally trained percussionist and accomplished drum teacher, Coleman was on the hunt to find a band that true to his “metal roots” but didn’t want to be in another cookie cutter hardcore band.  “John and I have that Metallica.. Hetfield/Ulrich connection…with him doing the guitars and vocals we’re able to write so much so quickly, to the point that practice sessions have to be recorded so we don’t forget anything!”

Blaine Davis, the third and final piece of the puzzle came to the band in a way true to his own personality and certainly his playing, spontaneous.  “The band had a show on a Friday for 1500 people and their bass player wasn’t going to be able to do it, I came to their rehearsal space the Tuesday before and that Friday we ended up playing to over 2000 kids and we haven’t looked back since.”  An amazing multi-instrumentalist Blaine excels (to the point of making John nervous) on guitar as well as piano and his first instrument, drums.  “I think my connection to the drums really helps Joey and I lock into a groove together, it’s almost an unspoken thing drummers have with each other.”

These are just a few of the stories within Madrone, yet there are countless more within the songs of this band on the brink of something spectacular. Madrone invites you to take a ride with a band ready to captivate your mind and welcome you to find your own story within their music.

COUNTRY

tyler toliverTyler Toliver, a fresh new face on the country music scene, picked up his first guitar at age nine. He explains that it was a hot summer, and he wanted an excuse to stay inside. And in doing so, he set a course for his future that has led to an exciting career as a writer, musician and singer…..and a United States Marine.

Tyler has received accolades from his fans all around the country, that has inspired him to go into the studio and record a 10 song album that should be released by mid spring 2010, Tyler has had the privilege of opening for country music legend Joe Diffie and is in the process of booking performances thoughout Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia.

The Washington D.C. Barracks magazine “Pass and Review” has just released a four page article on Tyler and his music and he has articles written in the “Bull Run Observer” and “The Montgomery County Journal.”

Tyler was born and raised in Southern Wisconsin, where he grew up running through the woods with his friends, eating bar pizzas, drinking root beer and playing pool. His mother was a bartender in Muskego, and his early cultural influences were country music, pickup trucks and cowboy boots. He loved to imitate Garth Brooks, standing in front of the jukebox with his plastic baseball bat, pretending that it was his guitar.

As a teen, he moved from pretend to the real thing, writing his own music and performing for friends and family, and anyone else who would listen. In high school, Tyler joined the ROTC, and then chose to enlist in the United States Marines upon graduation in 2007. His high school years were punctuated by success – academic honors, owning a general contracting business and receiving honors from the local ROTC.

As a Marine recruit Tyler was named ‘Company Honor Man’ and rose to the rank of Corporal in less than a year. He continues to serve our Country while writing music and performing

Groovin’ funk rock covers

chriscollat

“Jeff Healey meets Maroon 5 with a little bit of soul and funk.”

“Rockin’ blue-eyed soul with maximum funkification.”

“Refreshingly unpredictable- blend of funk, rock and jazz.”

That’s how their fans describe the Chris Collat Bandsh. Separately, they are five musicians who can hold our own musically, but together, it’s a magical experience that is very apparent at the shows. The energy, chemistry, groove, and percussive rhythms are all part of what makes this band so fun. They formed just a few months ago, and in that time they’ve opened up for a national act, performed and won the Guinness Battle of the Bands, and now they’re starting to book rooms that most musicians have been waiting years to get into. And that is just the beginning! They hope that each one of you can be part of their amazing journey as the band grows and develops to realize their full potential.
