Jersey-auctionLion & Bull is sponsoring a Silent Auction to benefit Cheyenne, who we have been assisting over the past several months.  Cheyenne has a need for medicine to keep away some symptoms of Lyme’s Disease.

The item being auctioned is an Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Onfield football jersey.  The jersey was donated by, one of our regulars, Monica Miller.  It is a real game jersey given to her by the team.  Although, it is not autographed it does have the NFL Superbowl XLV patch on it.

The bidding ends on Sunday December 11th.  The deadline to make a bid has been extended.  You still have time to bid.  To make a sealed bid see your favorite bartender for a bid envelope.  The minimum bid is $80.

*Congratulations to Ross who won the jersey with a bid of $250.   We would also like to thank everyone who has donated to Cheyenne’s treatment.

cheyenne-shiflettLion & Bull will be helping raise money for Cheyenne Shifflett. Cheyenne was diagnosed with Lyme’s Meningitis (A form of Meningitis that is related to Lyme’s Disease). Medication to treat the illness is very expensive, but required to help prevent brain damage. Unfortunately, the medication needed to treat Cheyenne is not covered by health insurance. We will get the rest of the story up later.
From now through the end of the year, come in on Sunday and order the Lobster Ravioli or the Chicken Pesto Pasta and we will give $2 from each sale directly to the Shifflett family to help cover the medical costs. We will also gladly accept any donations and pass those to the family as well.

toys-for-totsLion & Bull is proud to be a designated drop off point for The Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, in cooperation with the police officers Roughnecks Motorcycle Club of Washington, DC.   Please drop off an unwrapped toy in our collection bins by 2pm on December 3rd.  Santa will be stopping by at 2 on Dec 3rd to collect the toys.  Please consider making a donation today

Sheas-Lemonade-Stand

You’ve heard the old saying that when life hands you lemons, make lemonade? If that’s true, Shea Dowling, a 6-year-old from Haymarket, is making gallons of grief a little easier for families of the 72 fallen law enforcement heroes who died in the 9/11 tragedy.

Dowling, a first-grader, raised over $1,470 on May 1 at the Lion and Bull Restaurant in Haymarket at a lemonade stand, through the sales of drinks, t-shirts and charitable contributions and tips, and hopes to raise even more this Thursday at a stand in D.C.

The proceeds are going to the Twin Towers Initiative, which is donating money for a national law enforcement museum to be built in 2013 through the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
