You’ve heard the old saying that when life hands you lemons, make lemonade? If that’s true, Shea Dowling, a 6-year-old from Haymarket, is making gallons of grief a little easier for families of the 72 fallen law enforcement heroes who died in the 9/11 tragedy.
Dowling, a first-grader, raised over $1,470 on May 1 at the Lion and Bull Restaurant in Haymarket at a lemonade stand, through the sales of drinks, t-shirts and charitable contributions and tips, and hopes to raise even more this Thursday at a stand in D.C.
The proceeds are going to the Twin Towers Initiative, which is donating money for a national law enforcement museum to be built in 2013 through the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

MELODIC & EMOTIONAL ROCK & ROLL
Hathaway Brown comes to Lion & Bull with their collection of hook-laden songs to serve their crowd an expertly blended mix of midwest rock, pop and country. With songs currently featured on hit TV shows like MTV’s Jersey Shore and live performances that rival their songwriting they have become one of the areas best kept secrets.
About Hathaway Brown:
Late 2008 found Jarrett Randazzo and his band mates in the New Jersey pop/rock outfit Copperpot changing tires on the road to ruin. Despite an album’s worth of hook-laden songs, a growing and devoted fan base, being featured in various television shows and movie soundtracks, and moving nearly 35,000 copies of their self-titled album out of the back of their converted school bus (dubbed the “Cool Bus”)… Copperpot seemed destined to become the best band you never heard of.
Cut to 2010.
After spending three straight years on the road — clocking over 150 shows a year, showcasing for every record label in the land, and opening for notable acts like The Plain White T’s, Sugarcult, Butch Walker and My Chemical Romance, Randazzo retreated to the studio where he would begin working on what would become his sharpest effort to date.
“We’d spent so much time taking cues from what the people with nice suits were telling us… How we should sound, what we should look like, I just got so tired of trying to please everyone else, and got back to trying to please myself.”
Dubbing the new project HATHAWAY BROWN, and naming the record “Keep Moving Forward”, Randazzo has shaped an album that should not only make he and his bandmates proud, but also garner them the attention they so rightly deserve. Songs like “Frustrated” and “Tired of Waiting” call on the crunchy melodic sound fans are accustomed to from this award winning songwriter, while gems like “Now or Never”, “Stutter” and “Start Again” push Randazzo’s abilities into crafting timeless sounding tracks, reminiscent of a young Jackson Brown or an “A.M.” Wilco.
Sometimes success comes when you least expect it; if there’s any justice left in rock and roll, HATHAWAY BROWN is on its way to tasting it.
“…a genius mix of midwest rock, pop and country.” – Kaj Roth (Melodic.net)
“It..s all about high impact, dead center, fastball melodies and clean hooks. all the verve, the pop and connective grip that great, accessible, radio ready pop music should have. We all could only dream of writing songs this accessible to millions.” – Bruce Bodeen (Not Lame)
“Every song on this crunch and hook-filled gem should be on a TV or movie soundtrack – they’re all that strong! He’s raised the songwriting bar even higher with this brilliant 12 song effort! This is radio-ready stuff folks! Every bit as good as what gets played these days” – Ray (Kool Kat Musik)
