Modern Thieves may seem like a new sound around town, but they’re hardly newcomers to the D.C. music scene. They came together in early 2010 and instantly broke out with a promising five-track EP and a stream of local performances. Singer Ryan Murphy brings a full vocal range and charisma to the already steady, seasoned backdrop of D.C.’s most beloved rock-reggae-soul band, Politicks (guitarist Mike Trella, bassist Brian Chafin, and drummer Brendan McCourt). With nearly a decade of professional musicianship, these Thieves expertly blend rock, alternative, and trip-hop into a sultry, pleasantly infectious groove of their own.
The band’s current catalog includes 9 original songs along with covers by: Gorillaz, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Coldplay, Beck, Modest Mouse, The Clash, Band of Horses, MGMT, OK Go, Radiohead, MUSE, Blur, Spoon… even Ginuwine, R Kelly and Justin Timberlake.

SINGER/SONGWRITER AND POP/ROCK COVERS
With six independent albums to his credit, John has made a solid name on the indie circuit, constantly touring and playing relentlessly. His tenacious attitude has garnered him considerable press. With all the media have come sponsorships from the likes of Ovation Guitars, Marshall Amplification and Curt Mangan Strings. His first solo CD, “Leap Of Faith”, was a true labor of love for Taglieri. The diverse blend of songs on the CD has made John’s sound accessible to many people, from many genres. With one “Male Pop CD of the Year” win already, and also a runner up for “Rock Album Of The Year” nod, as well as being chosen as a “Top 20” in many polls, there seems to be no delay to the tremendous momentum.
His second CD, “Half & Half”,helped to garner him the “UIMA Pop/Rock Artist Of The Year” award, with more press and bigger shows following along. Opening for more national acts, gaining exposure and fans, the momentum continued to build. His third release, “NOW”, kept that momentum going with more touring and more positive reviews.
Having shared the stage regularly with acts such as Rik Emmett, Edwin McCain, The Gin Blossoms, Gavin DeGraw, Sister Hazel, and many other top name acts, Taglieri had become an in demand performer. His fourth release “Wide Awake & Dreaming” found Taglieri on the doorstep of the next phase of his career. With great production and powerful songs, including a cover of Blues great Joe Bonnamassa’s “Waiting For Me”, the CD surged Taglieri into new heights.
“Everything We Are” continued this trend, with fast paced songs, catchy melodies, great harmonies and a fun, alive spirit that he wanted to capture. Writing the entire EP with his guitarist and good friend Brad Whitley, he found new things to say and a new voice to say it with.
“Lives” was born of a series of songs written in early 2009. Taglieri and his co-writer Brad Whitley, in the midst of writing what was to be the second in a string of EP’s, realized that they had a storyline in their latest round of compositions. Taglieri took the storyline idea and mushroomed it. Contacting storywriter Gil Gonzalez, they formulated the EP/Book combination, with each track correlating with each chapter of the book released with it. Taglieri then contacted long time friend and graphic designer Tony Marchesani, and brought him into the project to handle the graphic novel side.
Ever growing as a writer, his new material is full of straight up AAA/Power Pop Rock n’ Roll. His new songs speak to the listeners from a place that talks about what life is all about. His knack for story telling and pulling the listener into the song is increasing and is helping to build a solid fan base. With a solid foundation and fantastic new material, it seems that the consistent upwards climb is going to continue.
A singer, songwriter, performer, multi-instumentalist, record label owner, studio owner, career mentor, book publisher, story author and vocal coach, Taglieri is always keeping busy and constantly moving to forward his career. Taglieri performs as an acoustic performer as well as with TAG his full band.

Clinton Curtis grew up between the islands of Jamaica and Key West, Florida, the son of musicians and reggaehall owners. As a kid, he played with and learned from some of the Jamaican giants – Gregory Isaacs, Desmond Dekker and Roots Explosion. His mother and father were pioneers of the Jamaican live music scene, managing and promoting many top reggae artists. Clinton was always eager to learn from musicians, and they were happy to teach him. He was an accomplished classical pianist by age 8. By 13, he was fluent on more than a dozen instruments.
At age 18, Clinton moved to New York and began working as a singer while studying acting at NYU. It was there, in Greenwich Village, in the bars and clubs that defined so much of music history, that he realized he wanted to write popular music. He took to it feverishly, writing dozens of songs a month. He teamed up with producer Matt Stine, and signed to indie label 27 Sound.
Currently, Clinton and his band are a fixture in the downtown NY music scene.
Clinton is credited with having the largest crowd ever at the famous Lower East Side venue, The Livingroom, where he plays every month.
Clinton also appeared on FOX’s Fearless Music TV, where he won the most votes of any other act and was brought back by viewers to play the TV show two weeks in a row. Those performances still remain in the top 10 most watched videos on the Fearless Music website.
Clinton’s music represents the coming together of all the musical genres he has been exposed to throughout his life. From Country to Reggae, from Blues to Bach, Clinton Curtis is a throwback to the great songwriters of the 1960’s with the musical versatility and voice of a new artist set on making his mark on today’s popular music landscape.
