nocturnalrush
Nocturnal Rush is comprised of five young and talented musicians that are passionate about playing music and entertaining audiences. Although they are only ages 12-16, they rock the house like seasoned pros and amaze audiences wherever they perform. These young teens live in three counties in the Northern Virginia suburbs outside Washington DC, bringing together the most talented kids around!
In early 2010, powerhouse lead singer Kaela Heiston and talented bassist Aidan Hall joined forces with drummer Jake Rosenthal and lead guitarist Trevor Fichtner to form Nocturnal Rush. Unlike many teen bands that change players every month or two, the musicians of Nocturnal Rush are in their second year together and going strong. Recently added to the band is the talented keyboard/vocalist John-Paul Heaney, a 7th grader who at the age of 12 is a veteran of Juilliard’s summer music program.
Nocturnal Rush has performed in prime venues in the mid-Atlantic, including the Celebrate Fairfax! Festival, the State Fair of Virginia, Jammin’ Java, Richmond’s famed Carytown Watermelon Festival, the Youth Rock Live! tour through the Baltimore area, as well as local and regional festivals and fairs.
Before joining Nocturnal Rush, band members opened for Forever the Sickest Kids (Universal) and have performed at major venues including Jaxx Night Club, the Juilliard School Jazz Ensemble, the Adams Morgan Day Festival , and the Sylvan Theatre. The combination of ability, practice, dedication and energy is evident in their music and live performances.

Phil from Lloyd Dobler EffectPhil Kominski from the Lloyd Dobler Effect is performing an acoustic set on March 18th at 8pm.

The Lloyd Dobler Effect (LDE) has been around for more than 8 years, having toured over forty states and thirteen countries. The band has an impressive list of accomplishments including headlining multiple international Armed Forces Entertainment tours.

The name for the group comes from the main character in the 1989 movie “Say Anything” starring John Cusack, where Lloyd Dobler held a large boombox over his head outside of his girlfriend’s window and blasted “In Your Eyes” to prove how much he loved her. The LDE name was primarily adopted because the band thought it sounded cool.

LDE has gained a stellar reputation on the national college circuit and live worldwide music scene as the next great band to watch. They have performed on the same bill with such notable artists as Jane’s Addiction, Eminem, The Strokes, The Goo Goo Dolls, Good Charlotte, The Roots, Jack Johnson, and 3rd Eye Blind, to name a few.

LDE’s multi-layered and upbeat music showcases their universal appeal to both modern rock lovers and culturally diverse audiences. The new single (on the Imagen Records label) “Meet Me In London”, which is the title cut for the upcoming album, highlights the group’s debut onto the mainstream music scene. The full CD will be available in early 2010.

The Lion & Bull now has their own YouTube channel.  We will be posting select videos of our concerts on this channel.  Our own Corinne Oppy sang with Tyler Toliver this past Thursday.   Enjoy this excellent cover version of “Picture” by Kid Rock & Sheryl Crowe.

KarlStollSmallKarl Stoll from Karl Stoll and The Danger Zone will be joining us for an acoustic set.

Karl is widely known as a rockin’ bluesman with his band, Karl Stoll and The Danger Zone.  As a solo artist, Karl takes a colorful departure from The Danger Zone playing his original songs and a mix of Americana.  It’s chance to hear him play some of his favorite songs in a new way. But, he is still a bluesman at heart.
