fitzmauriceThe Fitzmaurice Band is an up and coming band based out of Bowie, MD, playing the entire spectrum of bluegrass, from the traditional high and lonesome sounds of Bill Monroe to contemporary acoustic music. This young quintet has been wowing audiences throughout Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia with their tight, passionate vocals, virtuousic instrumental work, and high levels of energy on stage. With an emphasis on original music that the band classifies as “alternative bluegrass”, their repertoire also covers not only the traditional sound, but also their own take on classic rock and country. The band features identical twin sisters, Maria and Sarah Fitzmaurice, Brandon Snellings, Mike Simms, and Aaron Malone.

meandsarah.jpg.w300h200Twenty year old identical twin sisters, Maria and Sarah Fitzmaurice, founded The Fitzmaurice Band in late 2006. Their voices (Maria’s smokey alto and Sarah’s pure, soaring soprano) blend together beautifully in sibling harmony for a “bluesgrass” sound that is uniquely their own.  As the rhythm guitarist,  Maria has emerged as the group’s primary songwriter and Sarah keeps it all together on the upright bass.  Both girls are sophmore’s in college – Maria is majoring in Interior Design and Sarah is studying Vocal Performance.

Rob HornfeckArriving in 2001, The Rob Hornfeck Enterprise has gone beyond its five-year mission to explore strange new grooves and seek out new riffs and melodies. Sightings have been reported along the east coast of the United States, particularly in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Some witnesses have observed landings of the enterprise, but with hazy recollections due to the massive amounts of smoke emitted at the landing sight. All reports describe a man-like-creature claiming to be the Captain, armed with no traditional weapons, but with a sonic arsenal of guitars, ukuleles, and hooters (aka melodicas). Amidst lasers and blinking lights, this one known as the Captain sometimes has been seen donning a cape and trying to defy gravity.

kingbillyNashville – Country, Rock and Bluegrass

At a KingBilly show, you’ll experience something completely different—a blend of high, lonesome bluegrass harmonies, bluesy lap steel and the country equivalent of AC/DC power riffs. It’s all fused into a seamless whole as tight and dynamic as the Blue Angels in flight. The five band members are equally adept at pickin’ and writin’; like deep-sea anglers, they throw back the good tunes and only keep the great ones. KingBilly can and will play just about anything, as long as it’s good. To a male fan who knows his pickers, these guys are lively, inquisitive and engaging. To the fairer sex, they’re hot, fun and put on one hell of a live show. KingBilly is determined to forge an innovative path to success while maintaining the integrity of the music.

smallwoodbrothersGary Smallwood started performing professionally when he was 16 years old. A popular local band asked him to fill the guitar vacancy left by a leaving member. The other band members were older and did a bit of touring to nearby cities, sometimes rushing him home after a gig just in time to be dropped off at his school bus stop!

Gary started his love of music by signing up for drums & percussion classes in the 5th grade and continued to play them through high school. By the time he reached 7th grade, he became interested in the bass guitar. His parents bought him a Fender bass & amp that Christmas and he taught himself to play using his favorite records such as The Beatles, Black Sabbath & Sly & the Family Stone as influences, to name a few. At age 15 he saw a late night film entitled “A Film About Jimi Hendrix”…from then on it was all about guitar! He is also self-taught on guitar using Hendrix, Clapton, Trower, Marino & Van Halen as influences, to name a few.

Gary has shared the stage with or supported such great acts as Robin Trower, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, the late great Jeff Healey, Elliott Easton(the Cars), Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Bret Michaels, Guster, Catfish Hodge, Michael Fath and many more. His guitar playing, both electric and acoustic has been highly sought after by musicians as well as the public. He has loaned his talents to many bands as a ’sideman’ and in the studio on numerous recording projects, including Genghis Angus’ “Twelve Days”, Bryan Fox’s “Unfoxable”, Josh Burgess Band’s “Living & Dying Under Orion” , Jim Asbell’s “Man Overbored”, Leesburg Community Church’s “Give Me Jesus”, Bret Michaels’ “Rock My World” and countless other demo recordings.

Gary’s style of music consists of classic rock, soulful blues rock or just “flat out guitar rock”…he has a great appreciation for all types of music and sometimes will incorporate soul, R&B, funk, country and ’show tunes’ into his playing. Gary also gives back to the community by playing shows for numerous benefits and charities throughout the region. He is a well respected and hard working musician, playing 300+ shows a year.
